Mission Statement
The purpose of this corporation is to attract, promote, provide and support local, state, regional, national and international sporting events to the Joplin area, which will provide economic impact and enhance the quality of life for the residents of the Joplin area.
The Joplin Sports Authority serves as the primary sports marketing organization for the Joplin, Missouri region. JSA is responsible for the development and promotion of sports programs which ensure a positive economic impact on the Joplin metropolitan area.
The goal of the Authority’s efforts is to encourage the development of sports tourism and increase overnight travel and occupied rooms within the Joplin metropolitan area hotel/motel properties.
Continued growth will be realized by creating and implementing marketing programs through:
• Maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and delivering high-value results for their respective events
• Stay current with marketing and event management trend
· Build strong relationships with area municipalities, agencies, sponsors and supporters for contracted and volunteer support
• Seek and secure new partnership and events which will encourage market growth
• Advocating new and/or improved regional venues

History
The Joplin Sports Authority was formed in 1996 as the sports marketing division of the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau. In 2001, JSA was incorporated independently as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Missouri. Today, the Joplin Sports Authority is committed to placing first class sporting events throughout the communities of Southwest Missouri.

• Committed to promoting and elevating Joplin’s status as a sports market
• Directed by a volunteer board comprised of 18 civic and business leaders
• Supported by a local staff and hundreds of the greatest volunteers
Joplin Sports Authority HALL OF FAME
The Joplin Sports Authority Hall of Fame was established to pay tribute and give deserved recognition to those individuals and teams who have made distinctive, unique or exceptional contributions to sports in Joplin, while demonstrating the qualities of good character and citizenship.
The Hall of Fame is located in the Joplin Museum Complex in Schifferdecker Park, along Route 66 on Joplin’s west side.
