Joplin, Mo. The second-seeded Kirkwood Community College Eagles (35-2) defeated number one Johnson County (34-1) 69-58 Saturday evening for their ninth national championship and first since 2022.
The Eagles were led by the tournament Most Valuable Player, Jenna Twedt, with 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting. Demetria Prewitt added 13 points and nine rebounds for Kirkwood.
Johnson County was led by Amani Henry with 12 points, while Taliyah Scott and Grace Lynch each added 11 points.
Kirkwood's head coach, Kim Muhl, finished his 34
th consecutive 20-win season with the Eagles. Coach Muhl has a career record of 1,045-171 and is the NJCAA all-time leader in wins.
