Joplin, Mo. - The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs won their second NJCAA DII Men's Golf National Championship at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club on May 24th.
The Bulldogs totaled a team score of 1170 strokes to take home the trophy. Mississippi Gulf Coast had three players finish as a top-18 finisher, and all five players finish as All-Americans. Peyton Russell was the top finisher for the Bulldogs with a total score of 290 (+2) which was a tied for second finish. This was Mississippi Gulf Coast's second DII Men's Golf National title and first since 2018 . Head Coach Brad Thornton was an assistant coach with the Bulldogs in 2018.
Last year's National Champions, Kirkwood Community College, finished their title defense in second place. The Eagles made a charge on the final day to finish three shots back from the championship with a total of 1173. Kirkwood was led by Grant Greazel, who finished as medalist in this year's championship with a 3-under 285 total for the four rounds.
Des Moines Area Community College finished out the week in third place with a total score of 1178. The Bears placed three players on the All-America team: Drew Tetter (T6), Calvin McNeeley (T6), and Spencer Clatt (15).
