Joplin, Mo. – The Second Roper Honda Junior Championship hosted by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), was held at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club on August 12–16, 2024.
This year the Roper Honda Junior Championship saw 17 girls and 60 boys tee off in the Qualifier on Monday, August 12th, with nine spots (three for the girls and six for the boys) up for grabs. For the girls, Megan Rodrigues (Houston, Texas – 2027) won the Qualifier with a 1-over 73, followed by Isabella Piazza (Phoenix, Ariz. – 2026) with a two-over 74. Qualifying for the girls were Katie Dixon (Tulsa, Okla. – 2027), Junyi Wu (Beijing, China – 2026), and JingHan Hu (Beijing, China – 2026).
On the boys' side it came down to a six-man playoff for the final qualifier spot as Kolton Kijanko (Weldon Spring, Mo. – 2027), Brady Spivey (Pea Ridge, Ark. – 2026), Remick Elfers (Clive, Iowa – 2025), Owen Buerke (Springfield, Mo. – 2025), Jack Williams (Claremore, Okla. – 2026), and MJ Lowe (Pittsburg, Kan. – 2025) all finished with a 3-over 75. Brady Spivey won the playoff with a chip in on the first hole.
Joining Spivey in qualifying for the Roper Honda Junior Championship were winner Ross Miller (McKinney, Texas – 2026), Rajan Roth (Wayland, Iowa – 2026), Hudson Feuerbacher (Springfield, Mo. – 2026), Noah Naugle (Nixa, Mo. – 2025), and David Fong III (Bloomington, Minn. – 2025).
The 54-hole Roper Honda Junior Championship featured 27 girls and 51 boys over the three days (August 14–16). Kristina Xu (Claremont, Calif. – 2025) won medalist honors for the girls with a three-round total of 215 (1-under). Megan Rodrigues, qualifier champion, finished six strokes back in second place with a 5-over 221. Emree Cameron (Nevada, Mo. – University of Louisville commit) finished tied for tenth with a 10-over 226. Cameron was the 2023 MSHSAA Girls Class 3 Medalist for the Nevada Tigers.
On the boys' side, Peyton Smith (Lee's Summit, Mo. – 2026) took the medalist honors with a 10-under 206 (70-72-64). Smith's low round of 64 was two shots off the Twin Hills course record, 62 set by former Missouri Southern standout and Twin Hills assistant golf pro Tradgon McCrae.
Smith was the 2024 MSHSAA Class 3 medalist and a member of the 2024 Class 3 Championship Team from Summit Christian Academy. Carl Junction's Jack Spencer (2025) finished tied for fourth with a 6-under 210 (70-73-67). Spencer was a member of the third-Place team in the 2024 MSHSAA Class 4 Boys' Golf Championship and finished tied for sixth individually.
The Third Annual Roper Honda Junior Championship is set for August 11–15, 2025, at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club.
