Andrew Lewis drew the attention of Ozark Conference opponents on both side s of the line of scrimmage at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds.
A two-time All-State offensive lineman for Joplin HS, Lewis earned the opportunity to play NCAA D-I football and later a shot in the National Football League.
A 2005 graduate from JHS, Lewis started at center for three years and played defensive end under head coach Jesse Wall. He earned All-Conference honors and was a second team All-State offensive lineman as a junior and first-team honors as a senior, while earning All-Conference honors at defensive end.
White at Joplin, he wrestled as a freshman and played basketball as a sophomore, but he also excelled at track and field under head coach Paul Chambers and throws coaches Kevin Sadler and Richard Kruse. He earned All-State honors as a senior in discus, throwing 158 feet and had a best of 52 feet, 8 inches in the shot put.
Lewis received offers from Missouri State and North Texas to continue his football career, but the coaching staff at Oklahoma State University sold him on the opportunity to competeĀ in the Big 12 Conference.
After a redshirt season in the fall of 2005, he saw his first action in 2006 including 26 snaps in his first collegiate game against Missouri State.
As a sophomore in 2007, he earned a starting job at left guard and started the first three games of the season there before he was moved to center for the final nine games. The Cowboys offense ranked seventh in the nation and allowed only 11 sacks in 13 games and five sacks in Big 12 Conference play.
In 2008, Lewis started all 13 games at left guard as OSU ranked in the top ten in the nation in rushing, scoring, and total offense. The Cowboys led the Big 12 in rushing for a third straight season and led the nation in the fewest sacks allowed category.
In 2009, Lewis started 13 games at center - he started 38 straight games for OSU - and finished as a two-time Academic Big 12 first-team selection. He played in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Classic in El Paso Texas.
After graduating from OSU in four and half years with a master's degree in Health Care Administration, he was an undrafted free agent signed by the Kansas City Chiefs and participated in training camp in 2010.
