Cloyd Victor Boyer, Jr. was born in Alba, Missouri. Cloyd was a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals (1949-1952) and the Kansas City Athletics (1955). During his six-season career, Cloyd posted a 20-23 record with 198 strikeouts and a 4.73 ERA. He pitched 395 and 2/3s innings which included 13 complete games, three shutouts and two saves.
